Marat Akchulakov

Marat Akchulakov is one of the leading oil and gas attorneys in Kazakhstan. After working for a few years in district Attorney office and private practice in Almaty, he worked with KazMunaiGas and its subsidiaries for nearly six years. His duties included working as enior lawyer in the legal department and manager in the investment department, as well as a role of personal assistant to the President of the KazMunaiGaz Part of this period he was working for KazMunaiTeniz, a KMG subsidiary responsible for state share in offshore projects in Caspian Sea. Thereafter, he worked as a senior lawyer and manager of project department with Kazakstan subsidiaries of Lukoil, major international oil company, and again in private practice in Astana with Grata and finally Astana Law Partners. His legal specialty includes all types of oil and gas transactions, government procurement and tenders; tax and customs procedures, domestic and international tax planning; registration of resident and non-resident companies; corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, legislative drafting of all aspects of subsurface law.

Mr. Akchulakov graduated from Kazakh State University of Law in Almaty in 1992. He also completed his master studies in law at the Boston University, School of Law. Mr. Akchulakov is a member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London. He speaks fluent Russian, Kazakh and English.
